Ethics in Psychology
As registered psychologists, we are mandated to adhere to strict ethical standards. Registered psychologists must comply with the standards set by the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA). At iflow psychology we also implement standards set by the Australian Psychological Society (APS) and the Australian Association of Psychologists (AAPi)
Charter for clients of APS psychologists
All psychologists are legally required to be registered in Australia. This means your psychologist is registered with the Psychology Board of Australia.
Your psychologist will also comply with standards set by the APS and AAPi.
These safeguards mean that your psychologist is properly trained and ensures you receive high quality, ethical service.
As a client of iflow psychology, you have a right to expect that you will:

Be treated with respect at all times,

Have your cultural background and language tradition respected,

Be given a clear explanation of the services you will receive,

Be asked to give your consent for any service provided by your psychologist prior to the service commencing and as it progresses,

Receive an explanation about the confidentiality of the service and the exceptional situations where your confidentiality may not be protected,

Receive a clear statement about fees for your psychologist’s services,

Receive skilled and professional services from your psychologist,

Discuss clear goals that you and your psychologist are working towards, and

Be able to ask questions about the service you are receiving.

Privacy and Confidentiality Policy
In providing services to you, information is collected and recorded relevant to your situation. This information is stored securely. Private information is maintained as strictly confidential.
In rare circumstances, there might be an overriding legal obligation by which psychologists must adhere. If this situation arises, it will be discussed with you. iflow psychology takes privacy very seriously.
