Dean is available for both in-person OR telehealth sessions.​

  • Tuesdays: 9 am to 6 pm

  • Thursdays:  9 am to 6 pm

  • Saturdays: 9 am to 1 pm

  • Masters Degree in Counselling Psychology​.

  • Fellow - Australian Psychological Society (APS) College of Counselling Psychology​ (CoCP).

  • Endorsed with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) as a Counselling Psychologist. This reflects skills to provide advanced psychology services.​

  • AHPRA supervisor (Board approved).​ Dean has supervised: Counselling Psychologists, Forensic Psychologists, and Organisational Psychologists undertaking Masters in Psychology from: University of Sydney, University of New South Wales, Macquarie University, and University of Western Sydney.

Dean's Story

Dean Harrison is a highly experienced counselling psychologist with over 30 years of expertise in the field of Counselling Psychology. Throughout his career, Dean has held senior clinical leadership positions in various government agencies, private practices, and corporate sectors. He is renowned for his exceptional leadership skills and the delivery of effective psychology services to individuals and organisations.

One of Dean's notable achievements is the development of the first Australian curriculum for the Brain Injury Psychiatry Program (iBIPP) Fellowship. He has worked with prestigious institutions such as icare, Royal Rehabilitation Services, Brain and Mind Centre (Sydney University), and RANZCP (The Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists) as a Counselling Psychologist.

​

Dean has also served as an Assistant Director/Counselling Psychologist for the Federal Department of Human Services (DHS). In this role, he led allied health services across Sydney Northern Suburbs and Inner West Sydney. Dean was a key member of the National Team of Psychologists handling high-profile Forensic Issues and developed the national Integrative Assessment Modules for DHS.

Within the NSW Department of Community Service, Dean provided counselling psychology services to employees and foster parents. His work involved handling psychology services related to child deaths and allegations against employees. Dean developed the first counselling program for Foster Carers in NSW and trained a private network of EAP psychologists to offer counselling to foster carers.

​

Furthermore, Dean served as a Senior Counselling Psychologist for the NSW Police, where he had statewide responsibility for assessment and counselling services for high-risk and special services. His role encompassed recruitment, fitness for duty assessments, annual psychological reviews, and trauma management. For his services Dean was awarded the NSW Police Commissioners Achievement Award for professional services.

As the Director Allied Health, Brain Injury Rehabilitation/Counselling Psychologist at the Royal Rehabilitation Centre Sydney, NSW Health, Dean lead the community allied health brain injury rehabilitation team and developed the first formal case management model for Brain Injury in Australia, funded by MAA. Dean was awarded the Multicultural Initiative Award for initiating the first Brain Injury Support Group for People from Chineses Speaking Background.

Dean's extensive experience also includes working in various psychology placements, such as the Albion Street Sexual Health Clinic, where he completed a clinical placement as a Counselling Psychologist. He has also worked as a psychologist in an ADHD clinic in a private pediatric neurology clinic, assessing and treating children with learning and behavioral difficulties.

​

Additionally, Dean worked as a Vocational Services Coordinator in the disability sector, assisting clients in transitioning into supported employment options.

​

Dean was also highly regarded for developing a program aimed at optimising the mental health and quality of life for individuals with chronic schizophrenia and mental health conditions.

​
